Setting up Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is an important security measure for protecting your account. Doing so is an easy process, and is explained in this guide. You will need an internet browser, your Google login, and a phone, preferably a cell phone.

Two Factor Authentication uses a code verification process when logging into new devices to keep your account secure and prevent security threats to both your account and the school.
Once 2FA is enabled, you will have an additional step added when logging in to your account from a new device. You will receive a code to a specified device during the login process that you will be asked to type in, after logging in with your password. In most cases, your device will be remembered and you will only have to go through this process once (per device).
Step 1: Visit the Google 2FA Website (google.com/2step)
Go to Google's website for setting up Two Factor Authentication. This is located at google.com/2step. Once you are there, press the "Get Started" button in the upper right-hand corner.
Step 2: Get Started with the Process
On the next screen, press the button to confirm you want to get started with Two-factor authentication.
Step 3: Log in with your Google Account
This is the same standard process that you have been using to log into your Google account all the time. Your password will be the same and you will use your sjprep.org email.
Step 4: Type in the number for your Phone
Here you need to type the phone number that you will use for your two-factor authentication. This should be a phone that you will always have access to whenever you need to log into your sjprep account or any sjprep services. For this reason, we recommend using your Cell Phone.
You will also be able to choose here if you want to receive your codes via text message, or a phone call with an automated voice recording. The suggested method is text message delivery.
Step 5: Confirm that it Works
You will need to confirm your device. This will test out the two-factor authentication process. Google will send a code to your device, and you will need to input that code back into Google on this page.
It may take a minute to get the code. If you did not get the code, press resend.
Step 6: Turn on Two Factor Authentication
Now it is time to turn on the two-factor process. After doing this, you will need to complete the two-factor process when logging into your Google account on any new device.
Two Factor Authentication is now configured
You are now enabled to use two-factor authentication. Your settings can be changed at any time on this page, which can be found in your google account settings. You can modify your 2FA contact number here.
