All classrooms at The Prep are outfitted with large projectors. These can be used for teaching and conducting classroom activities. While the interfaces to use projectors vary from room to room, they mostly work on the same few principles.

How do I turn on the projector?

Many classrooms at The Prep are outfitted with a control panel on the wall, to the side of the front board, or on a podium. Simply press the "on" button and your desired cable (HDMI or VGA) to activate the system.

If a control panel is NOT present in your classroom, look for a projector remote. Use the remote (or in emergency situations, the power button on the physical projector) to activate the system.

HDMI inputs are normally labeled HDMI on all projector menus. VGA inputs may be labeled VGA or sometimes "Computer" on certain input menus.

Using VGA or HDMI?

When connecting to projectors in the classroom, please choose the HDMI cable, if available. Almost all classrooms at The Prep are outfitted with an HDMI connection. The few that are not will be replaced soon. All Prep Computers have an HDMI port on them, there should be no issues connecting on the laptop side.

HDMI also carries audio on one cable, so plugging in the HDMI cable will give you both picture AND sound.

If you absolutely have to use the VGA cable, remember to ALSO plug in the small 1/8" audio plug into your computer's headphone jack in order to get sound.
